VP, HR - Hawaii Region & VP, HR - Colorado Region (2 positions)
The Vice President in each Region plays a key role by leading Human Resources strategies and initiatives that support the business objectives of the company’s new and existing markets. In partnership with the Regional President and other members of the Executive Leadership Team, he/she provides leadership to ensure: The people of KP are engaged and enfranchised to be responsible to customers; Effective leaders are correctly positioned and developed; KP has an effective, proactive and measurable human resources response to local market challenges; and KP is positioned as the health care employer of choice in the region.
The VP Human Resources is an active member of Kaiser Permanente’s national HR leadership team, and participates in the development of Kaiser Permanente’s national HR agenda to build a high performing, competency based culture across the Program.
REQUIREMENTS
The VPs of HR responsibilities include:
Human Resources Strategies Aligned with Business Objectives: Works with others to shape the business strategy. Understands the business context and strategy including: external economic, social, technological, and regulatory factors, market/customer opportunities, industry and competitive forces, organizational capabilities of each business unit within the region; Guides the development and execution of the regional HR strategy consistent with the mission, vision, values and business objectives of the organization; Supports the strategy through in–depth analysis of workforce supply and demand, forecasts, demographics, flexibility and education.
Strategic Partner to Regional President and Medical Director: Serves as a thought partner to the Regional President and Medical Director. (The level of interaction with the Medical Director and Medical Group will vary by Region.); Plays key role as coach to the executive team (individually and collectively); Serves as a respected, depended-upon part of the leadership team; Participates in, leads, and/or supports Executive HR processes (e.g., performance management, succession planning) as requested by the Regional President.
Region-wide HR Delivery: Leads and oversees delivery of HR Services within the region to ensure quality, service, and cost effectiveness goals are met; Partners with HR SSO leaders and Program-wide services leaders to ensure the regional perspective is part of the design and delivery of services and that service agreements are met.
Program-wide HR Delivery: Participates outside of KP in professional organizations; Participates in Program-wide strategy development and decision-making; Ensures seamless delivery of HR services across regions and functions to realize National and infrastructure outcomes; Develops common approach to national initiatives, allowing for flexibility in local implementation.
Organization Change: Works with the regional leadership to develop and implement major organization change strategies; Implements new human resources practices that support business objectives such as dynamic pay, flexible benefits, performance management, leadership development, rewards and recognition, employee commitment surveys and communication and diversity; Works with the national KP HR leadership team to implement HR shared services, HRIS and leverage human resource best practices across the program.
Labor Relations: a positive, creative, and mutually supportive labor / management / physician partnership is very important at Kaiser Permanente. The VP Develops and implements progressive labor relations strategies that will strengthen relationships with unions and supports local bargaining.
Requirements:
•10 years progressively responsible HR experience in a health care setting or other comparable labor-intensive industry; strong understanding of business needs in the health care industry.
•Substantial experience leading an organization through ongoing strategic human resources development efforts, change management issues, and restructuring programs.
•Seasoned executive who has served in human resources functions within a complex and sophisticated environment.
•Demonstrated ability or proven experience serving as trusted advisor and strong role model for effective leadership practices.
•Broad knowledge of technical elements involved in HR with specific functional experience in strategic recruitment and retention, performance management, workforce engagement initiatives, compensation systems and evaluation, employee and labor relations, rewards and recognition, development and learning, organization design and change, and laws and regulations affecting HR practices and policies.
•Proven ability to make quality-based strategic business decisions.
•Must share the values of Kaiser Permanente and its Executive Leadership Team.
•Proven experience or demonstrated ability to build effective partnerships and influence other leaders.
