VP Direct Marketing

Position Description:
Overview

The Vice President of Direct Marketing will lead the development of direct marketing capabilities for Carlson Marketing Worldwide. This leadership position must develop the business plan and strategies to create a competitive advantage for CMW.

This individual will have one to several direct reports once the solution offering is developed, must be skilled at leading in a matrix organization and will be accountable to maintain and lead the solution offering on a global basis.

Responsibilities:

-Build out the "Direct Marketing- solution offering for Carlson Marketing
-Develops and implements "Direct Marketing- strategies for existing and potential clients
-Works within Carlson Marketing matrix to "team sell- solutions to clients
-Builds Carlson Marketing "Direct Marketing- Point of View and offerings
-Collaborate directly with sales to establish goals and direct marketing related plans for clients (Account Planning)
-Builds strategies which leverage other Carlson Companies and intermediaries
-Represents Carlson 1to1 and Direct Marketing to key internal (Carlson) as well as external constituents
-Lead the development of the short and long term direct marketing capabilities for CMW. Work with appropriate constituents to develop an in-depth understanding of the marketplace, and apply these learning's to developing a business plan to effectively compete in the marketplace.
-Bring in-depth knowledge of direct marketing.
-Interface effectively with internal constituents to collaborate on client marketing strategies.
-Develop process to measure, report and analyze all direct marketing activity: Quantify expected results and track performance.

Position Requirements:
-10 + years in Direct Marketing agency experience with at least 3 years at the Sr. Director/ VP level.
-MBA degree
-Seasoned Direct Marketing client team leader
-Demonstrated successful P&L management experience
-Demonstrate Agency knowledge
-Demonstrated ability to potentially lead through and integrate an acquisition in DM space
-Must have proven ability to lead teams and develop marketing strategies
-Experience in understanding market research and ability to integrate with market and product knowledge to develop both business and client marketing strategies and plans.
-Must have experience in developing marketing plans and tactics to drive lead generation, conversion and retention.
-The ability to establish credibility early by virtue of one's intellect and talent as well as their ability to build relationships across the company.

-A requirement for successful operating in a highly matrixed company where everyone's talent and input is valued and part of the organization's success.
-An understanding that you own the solution offering of direct marketing, but you do not own the success unless you get the company behind you – all functions.
-An appreciation and acknowledgement that the regions/theatres can offer valued input and constructive criticism in order to lead to better decision making and vice versa.
