Senior Civil Society Experts - Media

One contract position is currently available for a media development expert at USAID in Washington DC. Position duties will include the following:

• Technical advice and leadership for media development programs in diverse countries throughout the world
• Technical support and/or drafting implementation plans to support/develop independent media outlets and enabling environments for independent media
• Technical leadership in developing, evaluating, disseminating, and applying new approaches to media development programs, managing grants, and providing field support to USAID’s missions
• Research and writing technical publications and development of training sessions;
• Technical leadership services to the office on global issues, plus ability to provide focus on media and civil society programs in one or more geographic regions
• Ability to also provide analogous technical support to USAID civil society development programs is considered a plus (but not required)
REQUIREMENTS
Graduate degree in journalism, mass communications, sociology, or related social science discipline is strongly preferred. At least five years of professional experience in (a) mass media and/or (b) managing, designing, and/or evaluating democracy development activities on behalf of an international organization, the US Government, or a non-government organization. Experience managing and/or working successfully with teams and strong writing and verbal presentation skills expected.
