Regional Medical Director

Apply and modify the principles, methods and techniques of medicine to supervise physicians who provide primary patient care. Provide leadership, direction and professional medical judgment to physicians and physician’s assistants. Provide primary patient care, as needed, for first injuries at Riverside Medical Center for associates of those clients who require physician-only treatment of all first injuries. Work closely with Administrator to ensure comprehensive delivery of services and quality patient care. Cooperate with management to ensure accomplishment of all center objectives. Evaluate medical procedures and everyday situations and suggest ways to improve delivery of service and profitability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provide medical care to industrial first injuries at Riverside center to associates of those clients who require physician-only treatment for first injuries.
· Provide utilization review of medical charts.
· Communicate and work with medical staff to ensure coordinated efforts for the provision of high quality medical treatment and client service.
· Assist Administrator and corporate management in identifying, analyzing and resolving work problems.
· Evaluate the effectiveness of existing clinical methods and procedures and suggest improvements.
· Participate in the orientation of new staff physicians, physician assistants and residents by explaining administrative and clinical procedures.
· Assist clinical staff in understanding and complying with policies and procedures.
· Ensure compliance by medical staff with company policies regarding ethical, legal and professional issues.
· Ensure compliance by medical and clinical staff with applicable regulations and with Corporate policies and procedures.
· Maintain quality assurance for all medical issues and assist in the solution of any medical problems.
· Assist in recruitment of physicians and physician assistants as necessary.
· Direct, review and evaluate performance of physicians and physician assistants.
· Serve as a liaison between the medical staff and administrator/corporate management.
· Contribute solutions to intra- and inter-departmental problems.
· Mediate professional disputes and problems.
· Support efforts of administrative and marketing personnel in securing new and maintaining current business as required.
· Assist, as required, in resolution of client grievances regarding medical issues.
· Perform utilization reviews of medical charts.
· Cooperate with the Administrator in administrative functions and implementation of special projects and services.
REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Knowledge of professional medical practice related to treatment of work-related illness and injuries.
· Knowledge of organizational and medical policies, regulations and procedures.
· Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments.
· Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe medical environment.
· Skill in developing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
· Skill in developing and maintaining medical quality assurance and quality control standards.
· Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the general public.
· Ability to react calmly, objectively and effectively in emergency situations.
· Ability to communicate clearly with patients, staff and clients.
· Good telephone manners and etiquette.

EDUCATION
Degree of Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from a U.S. accredited institution.
EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in Industrial Medicine.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Current license to practice medicine in the State where the center is located; current certificate to supervise Physician Assistants; current certificate to supervise X-Ray Technicians;.current CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE from the Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Department of Justice.
