Engineering Manager

General Purpose and Scope:

Lead the Design Engineering team in the development and manufacture of innovative high quality drilling solutions for oil, gas, and water drilling applications. Review and upgrade the systems and work processes to improve cycle times and productivity across the business. Implement leading processes such as VA/VE and Activity Based Costing. Assist in driving successful implementations of the Oracle ERP system and API Q1 initiatives. Review team competencies and train and top grade as required.

Responsibilities and Activities: !Manage the Engineering team to assure on time delivery of high quality innovative solutions to customer requirements. Participate in the overall leadership of the Corporation and develop and implement initiatives that will drive major quality and cost improvements. Spearhead change management activities to drive improved performance of the Engineering team. Assist in driving the business to API Q1 status. Assure technical competency of business in all leading developments / applications. Evaluate and gain approval for new computer aided design system. Successfully lead implementation and ongoing application. Initiate and successfully implement processes such as Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and VA/VE.

GOALS AND CHALLENGES: Review existing CAD system applications and provide interim fixes while investigating and selecting a new system. Successfully implement the new system. Review existing Engineering team and determine competency and highest and best use of each person. Train / reassign / “top grade” where required. Review existing systems and processes and successfully implement DFM and VA/VE processesUnderstand competition and develop SWOT analysis and corresponding strategies to drive product innovation, time to market, and cost / quality improvements. REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS:

MUST HAVE12+ years experience in Design and Manufacturing Engineering in a highly engineered capital goods industry. B.S. in IE/ME/EE. 5+ years of engineering management and team development. Deep experience in product development, product cost reduction, and value engineering. Strong communication skills, team player, high energy level. Business acumen to understand overall business objectives and industry sector. Background in applying lean / six sigma processes. Experience in selecting, implementing, and successfully using systems such as computer aided design.

DESIREDMasters Degree in Business or Engineering
