ELECTRICAL LEAD/CHIEF ESTIMATOR INDUSTRIAL SYSTEMS CAREER

THIS JOB: This is an estimating leadership position requiring diverse experience but in particular experience with heavy industrial systems like steel manufacturing, rubber processing, pulp and paper and other specialized systems which have elements of medium voltage and unique machine install and protective systems requirements. For all of that, we also do commercial work, and we would love to find that rare bird that has done a few steel mills, a few hospitals and a Marriott or two. Yes, we know it’s a lot to ask, but we will reciprocate in every imaginable way.

OUR COMPANY: We are the most successful electrical construction company in our region on every level success is measured. We are the biggest in annual sales, we are the most consistently invited back, we are respected and served by all vendors, we can finance and bond any constructions it makes business sense for us to pursue, the word “claim” is an abstract concept not pursued here, we have a code of honor, and we have, by far, the greatest stability in terms of the people team that makes our company great. Measured every way a person with career orientation measures it, we are the place to be.

To understand the advantages we offer, beyond our nearly 100 million in sales and our financial stability, we are a private company. We cannot be looked at as a family business. We have impeccable local credentials, and can pay for commodities and take discounts for prompt payment. There is no job that would challenge the single job or composite bonding limit of our organization. We have central midwestern operations but have put outposts in key growth marketplaces across the country. What this means to you is that we are a prime choice for a professional planning a career. The company size and continuous growth assures room for a progressive career.
The absence of nepotism means a level playing field.
The multiple locations allows for not only location flexibility, but also unique job configurations for estimators, which can include mentoring and training positions in multiple locations. We have had estimators move into division and location management.
The private nature of the company allows it to make long-term decisions that are the right decisions for the maintenance of a good local reputation.
The private nature of the company and its character allow an employee to build a career, and count on a fair evaluation for past contributions made to the company.
A minimum of politics.
Good policy decisions are not artificially expedited by the calendar quarter’s end as they are in public companies. This is a company with a community perspective not an accountant's perspective. Most of us have figured out that you cannot force design build work to fall into place on tidy intervals with total certainty. Wall Street has yet to accept or reasonably deal with this.
We offer clients bundled services for all facets of electrical infrastructure, this versatility making us a compelling source.
We hire character, talent and skills. Moral, ethical, community and family values are genuinely important to this organization. You are not going to be called on to visit a particular pew here, we are simply telling you that doing the right thing has meaning here. Emotional intelligence is very important to this organization. In the end, we all find people doing things and performing at one level or another on the basis of how they FEEL. In dealing with others, and across the departmental lines, the company insists that people in the various departments understand the responsibilities, difficulties and loads imposed on others and other groups. We are a genuine and successful example of the value of professional empathy. Building strong teams that work well with one another for the long haul depends upon this type of understanding. That all boils down to our desire to employ and encourage considerate people.

Performance information is shared in this organization. In a true "open book" fashion, the management shares certified financials with employees. One can see how the team is doing in all the various locations. Half of all profit goes into employee profit sharing. This ability to see everybody's contributions, and feel it impact your wallet strengthens the team as well.

We have the best tools for doing the work, and managing the work. As resources are developed that will improve quality or productivity, they are rapidly embraced. That can be jobsite tools, heavy equipment, hand tools, software tools, or enterprise management systems.

If you want a job, this is probably not the place. If you are looking to establish and prosecute the peak years of your career, this is the place. If you expect your contributions to be accrued and considered, this is the place. If mutual loyalty is essential to you, this will be a good home. If you wish to be afforded a large and ever expanding opportunity to grow in your career, this is one of the finest service organizations there is in the country in the integrated electrical construction business. If you wish to benefit from constant training, education, certification, and the newest tools, software and equipment, here again, this will be a good home for you.

THE PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR: We need a lead or division chief estimator. The distinction will really be breadth of skills, the lead being an experienced senior estimator with mentoring abilities. A person who can occupy the position of chief estimator must have all the technical acumen plus strategic and business skills, working as an executive voice of the company. Toss in business development, contract review and negotiation: An executive position.

To benchmark the estimating skills and experience we are looking for, it makes sense to look at our pursuits. Our work is a widely varied mix of fairly large-scale (half million – twenty million) industrial work, institutional, and commercial work. From big steel, petrochemical and manufacturing plants to the dreaded K-12, hospital campus, big hospitality, and even utility + T&D work, if there is power distribution in our neighborhood that needs to be constructed, we are assessing the work for goodness and potential. The mix has been 60% bid specifications and 40% design and build.

To get a sense of the personality we are looking for our company culture and business principals need to be explained. We are a company that is known for and committed to the highest level of business ethics in the industry. We do not lie to the clients regarding any aspect of the scope or contents of the work we bid. For those with past experience working with our firm under contract, there is the knowledge that there will be few surprises, and no deceit by design. Our repeat and lasting relationships are derived from clients coming to know the straightforward, easy and consistent experience that doing business with us is. We are a company with emotional intelligence and the people factor is a big part of our culture. It is all about respect, fairness and consideration. There is less and less of it in the world, and we are working purposefully to preserve it. To make a long wish list short: we are looking for honest people who know how to team effectively.

We are a great company that needs a smart and disciplined estimating leader. We are worth discretely talking to. We can be partners for life.

MOVING UP: We are adding locations and this lead of chief may be allowed to oversee and manage additional business units in the future.

COMPENSATION, PERKS & BENEFITS: $80,000.00 to 105,000.00 is the base salary range and we are willing to discuss that and bonus goals. Great medical dental (100% employee and spouse), truly nominal for children, 401K with match, profit sharing on top of the 401K, long and short-term disability. Mileage, cell phone and business expenses are part of the package. We will move a right fit person. We are in a region of the country that is physically beautiful, temperate, has a cultural base, higher educational facilities, great hospitals and a cost of living that is well below the national average. You can buy a really nice home on significant property in our area for 250K, and there are good schools, great shopping and natural beauty in a temperate and mild four seasons climate.
