POSITION: Director of Nursing

JOB SUMMARY: Provides management for the overall operations of the Nursing Department including compliance, budget adherence, supervision of staff and quality nursing services for residents.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a licensed registered nurse in Illinois, in good standing with the Department of Professional Regulations. Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. Three or more years experience in geriatric nursing and in a health care supervisory role. Thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations. Ability to manage and direct staff. Certification in CPR. Basic understanding of finance and budgets.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible for hiring, orientation, evaluation, counseling, disciplining department staff. Oversee scheduling of all staff. Oversee clinical charting, chart audit, and care plans of residents. Review residents' medication and physician orders monthly. Oversees in-service and education needs of nursing staff. Serve in leadership role. Take charge of operations in the absence of the administrator. Arrange for and participate in "on-call" responsibilities of nursing management. Provide direct licensed nursing care when necessary. Oversee quality assurance, infection control, and TB screening program. Oversee nursing budget. Administer Hepatitis B vaccine. Oversee weekly nursing supplies inventory and all department purchasing. Serve on all nursing related committees and other committees as appointed.
