Position: Director of Nursing



Job Summary:Provides management for the overall operations of the Nursing Department including compliance, budget adherence, supervision of staff and quality nursing services for residents.



Qualifications: Must be a licensed registered nurse in IL in good standing with the Department of Professional Regulations. Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. Three or more years experience in geriatric nursing and in a health care supervisory role. Thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations. Ability to manage and direct staff. Certification in CPR. Basic understanding of finance and budgets.



Essential Functions: Responsible for hiring, orientation, evaluation, counseling, disciplining department staff. Oversees scheduling of all nursing staff. Oversees clinical charting, chart audit, and care plans of residents. Reviews residents' medication and physician orders monthly. Oversees in-service and education needs of nursing staff. Serves in leadership role for the facility, and is in charge of operations of the facility in the absence of the facility administrator. Arranges for and participates in the "on-call" responsibilities of nursing management. Provides direct licensed nursing care when necessary. Oversees quality assurance, infection control, and TB screening program. Oversees nursing budget. Administers Hepatitis B vaccine. Oversees weekly nursing supplies inventory and all department purchasing. Serves on all nursing related committees in the facility and other committees as appointed.
