Director of Facilities Management

CalArts, a nationally recognized leader in art, dance, film/video, music, theater, and critical studies education, seeks a Director of Facilities Management. Reporting to the Vice President for Administration, this position is responsible for the overall operation of the Facilities Management Department, including the maintenance, repair, renovation and security of the Institute’s property including all buildings and grounds (over 750,000 sq. ft.). RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise and direct the Facilities Management operation, including security, mailroom, duplicating and receiving. Prepare and manage the approved Facilities Management Budget. Monitor the physical condition of the Institute and grounds and make recommendations to administration regarding major maintenance and renovation. Supervise any remodeling or new construction at the Institute. Ensure compliance with federal state and local codes, regulations and ordinances that involve Facilities Management and its operation.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of ten years experience in a plant operation with five years supervisory experience. Knowledge of various building trades; plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc. An understanding of the construction process, including bidding, contracting, permits, budget management and supervision. Ability to organize and lead the Facilities Management staff to achieve its goals. Knowledge of OSHA regulations with an understanding of safety, air quality and other standards which are required by law. This position is available immediately.
