POSITION: Director of Environmental Services
JOB SUMMARY: Supervise and carry out day-to-day activities of the Maintenance, Housekeeping, and Laundry departments in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the facility, and ensure that the facility is maintained in a safe and comfortable manner.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to learn, understand, and work within applicable regulations. Minimum of 3 years experience in general maintenance practices and procedures with at least 1 year in a long term care facility and previous supervisory experience. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with residents, family members, co-workers, visitors, vendors, government agencies, and the general public. Must be willing and available to work non-routine hours as needed.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES, including but not limited to: Implement goals, objectives, and policies for the Maintenance, Housekeeping, and Laundry departments. Hire, train, evaluate, supervise, counsel, discipline, and schedule staff. Set standards and develop procedures for performing daily maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry tasks. Coordinate daily maintenance services in resident areas with Nursing Department. Regularly inspect facility and grounds. Perform routine maintenance and repairs. Report unsafe conditions to Administrator. Provide on call service as needed. Oversee inventory and ordering of maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry programs. Recommend yearly capital expenditure items for the department. Update and maintain M.S.D.S. program. Oversee safety program. Attend mandatory in-services, department head, and various committee meetings. Remain up to date on all applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations. Perform other duties as assigned.
