Summary of Responsibilities, Essential Duties & Expectations: The Director/VP Market Risk Controls is responsible for leading the market risk controls activity in the Risk Management Group (RMG). The market risk controls function has primary responsibility for monitoring Trading risk limits, performing Price Verification, Risk reporting around the Mark-to-Market trading activity, being the primary liaison between the Trading desks and the RMG, Policy development and management, Compliance reporting, primary liaison with Internal/External Auditors and Legal Department. In addition, other responsibilities include: RMG representative for all commodities on the trading desk; Interface with head trader, desk heads and individual traders to ensure an in-depth understanding of trading strategies and market risks. Perform curve validation activity and extend & document curve validation methodology and processes Lead trading risk review process and develop appropriate risk reports for Senior Management Responsible for integrity of V@R system for all commodities. Help develop new risk metrics and open position guidelines Improve and maintain risk policies and procedures Document and report on Sarbanes Oxley controls under RMG’s responsibilities Assist and supervise the development, implementation and maintenance of the: trading control environment, risk management tools (VaR, stress testing, scenarios), reporting of performance measures.
Qualifications (Experience, Competencies, Skills, Education): This position requires a Quantitative Masters degree (Business, Engineering) and/or equivalent experience. Successful candidates must possess: Superior communication skills Strong knowledge of energy business, especially wholesale trading Strong knowledge of mathematics and statistics Working knowledge of options valuation as related to financial markets and/or energy markets Proficient computer skills preferably in SAS, Matlab
