DIRECTOR, UNDERWRITING (Care Choices)

POSITION PURPOSE

Provides direction and oversight for underwriting, rate development, insurance and stop loss coverage and determination and validation of medical and pharmacy cost trends as they pertain to rating decisions. Also, provides review and quality control over benefit administration and broker/agent arrangements.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSQualifications for this position include a broad-based knowledge of managed healthcare, underwriting, rate setting, benefit administration and insurance regulations.This knowledge is generally obtained through an undergraduate degree, successful completion of professional certification requirements in an actuarial field, and progressive experience in a managed healthcare or health insurance setting.Strong communications, management and interpersonal skills are required.Excellent communication skills as this position will frequently represent the Chief Financial Officer in meetings with executive management, employer groups, government regulators and other managers with Trinity Health Plans and Trinity Health.The incumbent will work collaboratively on a daily basis with sales, provider contracting, finance, and accounting.
