Chief of Patient Care Services
Scott County Hospital, located in west central Kansas, is seeking a Chief of Patient Care Services. SCH is a progressive Critical Access Hospital with diverse outpatient specialty clinic services, a rural health clinic, durable medical supply store and emergency medical services. Scott City is a rural community of approximately 4,000. Newly constructed and remodeled schools provide excellent opportunities for families seeking to raise children in a friendly home town atmosphere. Scott County boasts it’s own golf course and Lake Scott State Park which is located 12 miles north of Scott City.
The Chief of Patient Care Services is a senior level management position which directs and supervises the Director of Nursing, nurse managers and other related departments delivering direct patient care services. This person plans and conducts discussions with administration and staff to encourage participation in formulating strategic initiatives, development of departmental policies, monitoring financial indicators and insuring compliance with new regulations and procedures. Other key responsibilities include CQI, risk management, professional development of staff, and promoting positive communications among physicians, staff and the community.
Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current Kansas RN license. BSN, Masters prepared given preference, minimum of 3 years clinical experience as a nurse in a hospital setting with extensive experience in supervision and administration of nursing services desired.

REQUIREMENTS
Essential Functions of the position:
1.Developing and maintaining nursing service and related services in accordance with accepted standards.
2.Establishes and implements budget for nursing department and related departments. This budget includes immediate and projected needs for personnel, equipment and supplies.
3.Formulates department policies, define and interprets policies established. Incorporate new policy and procedures as necessary.
4.Recruits, interviews and hires personnel to ensure adequate staffing. Makes decision for promotion and on termination of employment. Does performance evaluation after 3 months orientation period and thereafter on annual basis.
5.Responsible for discipline of nursing personnel and related departments and documentation of these disciplines.
6.Maintains and makes available current job descriptions for nursing staff and related departments and interprets them to staff.
7.Works in cooperation with administration to evaluate and select products/supplies to be used. Directs the person responsible for purchasing these items.
8.Serves as the hospital spokesperson in the absence of the CEO.
9.Responsible for appropriate on call scheduling for hospital.
10.Ability to redesign Nursing Department and related departments as needed.
11.Responsible for creating an environment in which all nursing associates and related departments can work together harmoniously and with coordinated effort, in which each has an opportunity for self expression, for creating a sense of accomplishment, and for personal growth.
12.Fosters in the nursing staff and related departments a feeling of responsibility for the work assigned, of satisfaction and security in job, and of being an important part of the hospital team.
13.Stimulate and encourage nursing personnel and related departments to promote and/or support education and studies which affect the care of patients, the practice of nursing, or the welfare of nurses and nursing.
14.Recommends to administration salaries for nursing personnel and related departments commensurate with qualifications and in line with positions of comparable responsibility within the facility.
15.Ensures that nursing personnel and related departments for whom licensure is a legal requirement hold valid and current licensure.
16.Assists and directs Education Coordinator in the planning of staff education for professional and nonprofessional personnel.
17.Participates in planning for the introduction of new patient care programs and for expansion of services which affect the nursing department.
18.Interprets aims and philosophy of hospital and nursing service and related departments to associates, medical staff, patients, families and the community.

QA Coordinator.
Prepare and finalize nuclear coach operations.
Utilization Review process.
Director of Home Health, Respiratory Therapy, OR & CS, OB, Social Services, Cardiac Rehab, Education.
Prepare appropriate daily charge sheets for billing purposes.
Education, Qualifications, Experience:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current state RN license.
Prefer a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a nurse in a hospital setting with experience in supervision and administration of nursing services.
