Broward Community College (BCC) is a large, three-campus, three-center urban institution serving about 60,000 credit/non-credit students in addition to 14,800 students served by the Center for Economic Development. Located in southeast Florida, BCC was founded in 1959 as the first public higher education institution in the county and still functions as the principal provider of undergraduate higher education for the residents of Broward County. Through a wide variety of degree/certificate programs and continuing education courses, the College attracts a great diversity of students, including individuals planning to receive their Associate’s degree, transfer for a Bachelor’s degree, acquire new job skills, and those seeking education for personal enrichment. This position serves in a district-wide capacity reporting to the VP, Human Resources/Equity office.Will plan, develop, and implement employee relations activities according to established policies & procedures.Prepare proper documentation & correspondence for legal issues and/or disciplinary actions, up to and including employee suspension or termination procedures.Develop employee relations policies & ensure consistent application of and adherence to the College's Educational Master Plan, Employee Development Master Plan, & strategic goals & mission.Perform internal audits and take appropriate action to correct any employee relations issues.Create & manage dispute resolution procedures & supervise subordinate staff members.
REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in HR or related area and five years managerial experience in administration of employee relations within a higher education setting, public agency or similar entity that maintains an organized union environment required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Also require significant experience in the collective bargaining process, sensitivity to working with a diverse group of constituencies, and current knowledge of relative federal, state & local law & regulatory practices governing labor relations.
