Panel Coordinator - Safety Act Program

Job Type Entry Level, ResearchThe Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) is a not-for-profit corporation that operates three Federally Funded Research and Development Centers serving the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Unified Commands and Defense Agencies in addressing important national security issues, particularly those requiring scientific and technical expertise.IDA is working with the Department of Homeland Security to implement the Supporting Anti-Terrorism by Fostering Effective Technology Act (SAFETY Act). A self-starting professional is being sought to serve as coordinator of the panel that reviews economic aspects of SAFETY Act applications. Responsibilities Work with panel members and chair to integrate all aspects of SAFETY Act application reviews and evaluations to ensure consistency; discuss concerns or questions with appropriate panel members for resolution; and, develop draft reports on research findings and preliminary analyses; Manage logistical and administrative issues (not secretarial); Ensure all necessary documentation is maintained on work in progress; Provide status reports to panel chairs to include information on status of assignment, outline of upcoming projects/assignments and concerns/questions affecting assignments; Contribute to the creation/writing of panel reports or papers. Interact with government, IDA, contractor and other sources as required; Serve as day-to-day point of contact for assigned panel members; Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
BA/BS in business/technical/science area. Strong organizational skills and multitasking ability. Demonstrated ability to work independently under deadlines, compile and present data on research findings. Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with all levels of staff, to include senior government officials. Experience using microcomputers and associated software.
