Manager in Training
Candidates must be willing to relocate anywhere within the the Northeast Region (MD, PA, NY, NJ, CT, NH, ME, RI, MA) upon the completion of the training program. Training will take place in multiple locations within the region.
SUMMARY
The incumbent will learn the responsibilities and functions performed by an Account Manager and Operations Supervisor through on-the-job training to ensure proper placement into one of these two positions up on completion of training. The training program will last approximately 3-6 months.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
1. Dispatching and supervising one or more fleets of drivers safely, efficiently and legally.
2. Plan or pre-plan the delivery of freight to ensure on-time service for the customer.
3. Manage asset utilization to ensure maximum efficiency as driven by customer needs.
4. Coordinate with maintenance support personnel to manage service of all account equipment while maintaining customer-driven service expectations.
5. Process and audit payroll for drivers to ensure accurate and timely payroll.
6. Ensure that all drivers are in compliance with safety department and DOT regulations and promote the company safety culture. This includes but is not limited to conducting 90 day reviews, reviewing accidents and incidents on a timely basis, ensuring drivers are in log compliance and updating driver files in a timely manner.
7. Communicate status of loads, location of drivers and equipment, and other service level information to account management personnel and customers.
8. Become involved in financial analysis as it relates to specific account profit-and-loss statements.
9. Gain understanding of industry trends and company initiatives as it relates to driver retention.
10. Able to travel as deemed necessary by regional management.
11. Perform pertinent account-specific duties as required by customer.
12. Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
13. Be willing and able to relocate and accept the Operations Supervisor or Account Manager positions upon completion of training.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree with previous relevant work experience; or three years relevant work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Candidate must be willing to relocate at the end of the Management Trainee training.
Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and reference verification.
