Peoples Energy is seeking entry-level Engineers in the Field Operations area of its Gas Operations division. This position will perform assignments related to the design, construction, operation and maintenance of plant, property and equipment including engineering economic studies, surveys, plans and budget estimates. The right candidate will also supervise the activities of employees engaged in conducting laboratory and field tests, inspections and studies relative to appliances, equipment, production and distribution facilities and related operations. Many assignments will require daily use of in-house computer data systems.

Responsibilities include:

•Assist department or section head in planning jobs of major importance
•Direct construction projects according to predetermined construction plans
•Provide coordination with outside contractors/vendors to facilitate project scheduling and construction
•Monitor job site for adherence to plans and documents
•Coordinate with internal departments and outside consultants when necessary, i.e. abatements, testing, environmental concerns
•Provide budget estimates for distribution mains and services, plant equipment, bills or materials, work order, preliminary sketches and contract specifications for budgeted projects
•Assist in allocation of manpower to field operations, prepare tie-in procedures for newly installed mains, investigating injuries and accidents and assume responsibilities of supervisory personnel during absence, and assist with special projects as needed

**Positions could be located at any of our shop locations, to include North, South and West Chicago, as well as Waukegan**
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications required:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a GPA 3.0 or higher
3 or less years of experience
Excellent communication skills
Strong technical, effective planning and organizational skills
Working knowledge of windows-based PC applications including spreadsheets, databases and word processing
