The position is located in Buffalo Grove, ILThe purpose of the department is The Protection Architecture team is responsible for managing the integration of enterprise technology and architecture to ensure that it meets current and foreseeable needs of the business.The scope of this job is The scope of this job is Portfolio/Program Management Analyst - Maintains a portfolio or program view of projects supporting supply and demand management, resource utilization, and metrics. Allstate is looking for an individual with strong workforce planning skills supporting large, complex IT projects.
The individual will be responsible for1. Primary Responsibilities: Builds and maintains a collaborative partnership within APT, between APT and business unit colleagues and other technology areas. Assists with evaluation of resource capacity and balancing for projects and potential projects. Gathers, analyzes and reports metrics across all programs and projects within the portfolio. Contributes to setting priority among projects and programs across the portfolio ensuring selected projects support the business strategy. Monitors the pipeline of programs and projects from inception through deployment and continuing until sunset. Monitors issues and risks stemming from project interdependencies across the portfolio or program. Monitors and reports IT return on investment for the portfolio. Creates, executes and manages the portfolio or program communications plan. Creates, maintains and fosters the adoption of PMO processes and practices.

Specific Responsibilities: Applies basic knowledge of the business area to assist others by performing research tasks related to the business challenges, technology, or portfolio interdependencies. Researches and reports on resource capacity and allocation issues. Collects and analyzes project, program and/or portfolio metrics. Collects and manages the actual results as compared to estimates and maintains the historical repository for high-level project results. Performs research and analysis in support of establishing the prioritization criteria. Performs research and analysis on upcoming projects and opportunities to assist with the gating process. Performs research and analysis on the pipeline of projects and opportunities.3. Specific Responsibilities: Conducts research and analysis related to understanding and documenting key issues. Collects data and performs analysis to assist in preparing portfolio or program progress reports. Conducts research and analysis to discover and understand interdependencies and risks across the portfolio or program. Assists in data collection and analysis related to the costs and benefits of a particular effort. Captures and stores the relevant ROI data in the agreed format and repository for future use.4. Specific Responsibilities: Conducts research and analysis necessary to collect and manage the data required for creating the periodic portfolio progress report. Drafts sections of desired/required communications and reviews with appropriate people. Researches industry and Allstate portfolio and program management best practices, tools and methodology knowledge.5. Other Responsibilities: Suggests new solution ideas and helps filter those suggested by the client. Mentors and coaches peers and colleagues. Builds and sustains relationships. Supports process improvements. Supports corporate strategy. Responds to research requests to investigate new and innovative technologies of potential value to Allstate. Shares knowledge, ground rules and perspective with new team members. Builds, cultivates, and maintains long term relationships. Identifies opportunities to improve internal team processes or supported business's processes, products, or services. Supports the achievement of the APT and corporate strategy.

Experience Required:Some experience with workforce planning activities supporting IT organizations, Experience in resource allocation and staffing projects Knowledge of the software development lifecycle, Ability to learn and adapt to fast-paced results-oriented environment, Excellent facilitation skills, Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent verbal and written skills.
Computer Proficiency:MS Office Suite of Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Knowledge of Windows Share Point (WSS) is a plus.
Education:College Degree - Preferred
