Formerly known as Itek Optical, renowned for its breakthroughs in optical technology, SRS today, designs and manufactures the world's highest performance cameras and ground stations for capturing and interpreting reconnaissance and surveillance data for domestic and international military and commercial enterprises in today's interconnected global marketplace.The employees of SRS in Chelmsford, design, develop and produce state-of-the-art sensors for day, night, and multi spectral image capture, along with the ground exploitation and data handling systems to effectively utilize the imagery products. Dedicated field support teams are in place throughout the world to provide operational and maintenance support of Goodrich surveillance and reconnaissance systems.Position Overview:
This is a 6 mos. position for a college student. (woudl consider 3 month candidate)
The Co-op Software Engineer will become a temporary member of the DB-110 Software Engineering team. This position is a COOP internship and will be a key contributor to the design, development, test and maintenance of avionics software products under direction by senior software engineering staff. This position will require: Work on real-time embedded applications running under VxWork or other Real-Time Operating Systems
The ability to execute according to best practices and standards, create high-
quality work products by exhibiting integrity and dedication while working, communicating and coordinating effectively with other engineers on the DB-110 team. This position will report to the DB-110 Software Engineering Front Line Manager.Responsibilities: Work with other software engineers to develop new user interface designs, embedded control applications, device drivers and built-in-test programs Investigate errors & defects, implement repairs and document existing source code
Actively participate in Software process improvement initiatives
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Must have applied state-of-the-art engineering, skills, and competencies
Languages: C/C++ required Operating Systems: Realtime Operating System (ie VxWorks) desired
Domain Knowledge: real-time distributed applications, interprocessor communication, GUI design, client/server, software life-
cycle development, hardware/software integration
Software Tools: familiarity with standard IDEs, compilers and source code control & tracking tools. Open GL experience a plus.
Strong personal discipline, verbal & written communication, documentationEducation and Experience: Current third or fourth year student in a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science or Software Engineering is preferred
US citizenship
Ability to obtain a security clearance is required - an active clearance is desired
