Architectural Intern / Intern Architect

Purpose: Position: Architectural Intern Location: Sacramento, CA Salary: $32K-$40K/yr DOE Dynamic Architectural office servicing the architecturally conscious since 1991, actively seeks a strongly talented Architectural Intern with the desire to make architecture that acknowledges the changing world without losing sight of the timeless standards of quality, scale, proportion, and detail.

Ideal candidates will posses a 4 Year Bachelors Degree in Architecture Degree, and a hard working, eager to learn, self-starter attitude. Must enjoy working within a team-oriented environment and posses a passion for architecture.

The primary objective of an Architectural Intern is to aid in any way necessary to bring various stages of the architectural design and construction documentation to completion.

Primarily job responsibilities and duties will include but are not limited to produce (from sketches, perspectives and/or rough drafts) Preliminary Design, Design Development and Construction Documents. All of this should occur under the direction of the Project Manager with adherence to the design intent. The Architectural Intern shall also coordinate with the design team, including consultants, to resolve any drafting conflicts within the drafted set of documents. The Architectural Intern shall learn and incorporate Summerour artistic design methods and intent into all drafted work.

- The Architectural Intern shall draw preliminary plans, elevations and sections based on information provided by the Project Manager or Lead Architect

- Upon the approval of the PD set the Architectural Intern shall proceed to add information to the drawings in the PD set and create additional drawings such as enlarged plans, schedules, interior elevations and details to produce the Design Development set.

- With the DD phase complete, the Architectural Intern shall increase the level of detail to the CD level by adding additional information while adhering to standard construction methods and techniques.

- The Architectural Intern shall be responsible for monitoring the accuracy of drafted documents between peers and consultants.

- The Architectural Intern shall have knowledge of and be familiar with a wide variety of basic construction techniques and methods and have an understanding of applicable codes such IBC, ADA, NFPA etc?.

- The Architectural Intern shall be responsible for checking the accuracy of his/her work, all drafted documents shall be printed and checked for basic omissions and errors.

- As the Architectural Intern develops, his role will expand to include interaction with clients, consultants, and contractors.

- Construction Administration responsibilities include site visits to review design conformance by the General Contractor and Subcontractors. The Architectural Intern also prepares supplementary drawings to address requests for additional information from the Contractor or to document design changes made after the release of final constructions documents.

- The Architectural Intern is responsible for managing their progress through the Intern Development Program. The goal of the Architectural Intern is to become a Registered Architect.

- The Architectural Intern shall keep up to date on standard drafting practices and procedures and be well versed in the use of Auto CAD and the graphic standards associates with it.

- The Architectural Intern is responsible for entering his/her billable time each day, ensuring timely entry, accurate reporting of all tasks accomplished, and notation of each project related entry.
