XRF Technician

SUMMARY OF POSITION:Individual will prepare XRF calibration standards and validation samples in support of technology development programs and new product transfers into production. Individual will also develop new analytical methods and execute experiments targeted at improving the XRF analysis of catalyst samples and materials of catalytic interest.
JOB DESCRIPTION:1. Prepare highly accurate XRF calibration standards and validation samples for the analysis of raw materials, in-process materials/blends, and finished catalyst products. 2. Develop and/or assist with the development of new XRF procedures and techniques.3. Assist supervisor with the execution of experiments intended to improve sampling protocols and sample preparation, expand analytical ranges, and define limitations using statistics to support conclusions.4. Responsible for accurate accounting of PGM in assigned laboratory area.5. Maintain a clean working environment, adhering to company EH&S policies and procedures.6. Package and ship materials to clients.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree in the physical sciences (chemistry preferred) with 1-5 years experience.2. Prior experience with XRF instrumentation and/or experience working in an analytical chemistry laboratory desired but not necessary.3. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. on occasion.4. Working knowledge of MS Office applications (particular emphasis on Word & Excel).5. Excellent verbal/written communication skills.6. Must be able to multi-task.
