Windows Server Security Engineer

Great Fortune 500 Company, located in the northern suburbs of Chicago, is currently seeking a Windows Server Security Engineer who has a Wintel Engineer background and has moved into Server Security. Candidate will provide support, administration, and maintenance of infrastructure running the Windows Server operating system in a global enterprise environment having enterprise-class directory services, with emphasis on security elements within that infrastructure. Support security- and auditing-specific server utilities and applications required to operate that enterprise infrastructure, and participate in related projects and product-management efforts.

Responsibilities

Apply solid problem-solving techniques consistent with current level of technical and operational knowledge.

Assess vulnerabilities and determine remediation plans.

Assess, test, schedule, and assist in deployment of patches and fixes.

Serve as project member for the development, programming, and/or implementation of major IS infrastructure changes, installations or upgrades with emphasis on security elements.

Communicate positively and effectively with multiple audiences, as demonstrated by a good understanding of tone, methods, audiences, organization and mechanics.

Create plans and independently lead small to medium projects. Provide clear, concise, and appropriately customized project documentation that is appropriate for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Gather and analyze business needs and requirements (with assistance/approval from senior members of the team) and investigate and recommend different solutions within area of expertise to meet needs.

Independently design and implement processes, seeking appropriate buy-in from affected stakeholders and audience.

Work closely with systems architects and project managers to develop, plan and implement security-related system enhancements and upgrades.

Interact with vendors for support and new implementations.

Produce technical documentation and seek and incorporate feedback where appropriate.

Under direction of the product manager, plan, install, and configure directory services, domains and the underlying network services required to support resource location, discovery and access

Evaluate products, compile and document output of evaluation, and develop utilities required to support the environment with standard software development tools.

Requirements


Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience


3 or more years Local Area Networking and/or File & Print Services

3 or more years supporting configuration of server operating systems

3 or more years Microsoft Active Directory management and deployment in an enterprise network

1 or more years project management experience

Extensive knowledge of file system management, access control and directory organization

Extensive troubleshooting experience
