Welding Engineer

Key responsibilities of this position include:

Review general project objectives and establish welding requirements and specifications for the entire project including those for all suppliers and construction contractors.

Assist in developing construction welding procedure specifications and personnel relative to all special process controls including welding issues.

Preview suppliers and subcontractors special process documents (welding procedures, NDE, hydrostatic, PWHT, etc.) submittals assuring ASSME/AWS/AWWA/API code-standard, Black & Veatch specification and client/owner requirements are met.

Conduct reviews, audits, surveillance and inspections and report results. Identify non-conformances and deficiencies.

Develop and coordinate recommended corrective actions and preventive actions by following relevant inspection criteria.

Attend and participates in meeting, conferences (ASME and AWS), and training.

Educate management and employees regarding welding type issues.

Conduct and create weld training seminars and brown bag sessions, when required.

Function as welding consultant/expert within specific specialty.

Perform additional welding related assignments per supervisor's direction, as required.
REQUIREMENTS
The preferred candidate will possess:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical Engineering.

1-3 years experience with hands on welding and inspections (power industry a plus).

Must be AWS certified welding inspector.

PE (Preferred).

High familiarity and understands and interprets welding codes, standards, procedures, and specifications.

Supplier and construction weld inspection, testing, and methodology Managing and having solid interpersonal skills.

Good team player.

This position represents a specialized consultant role which the employee should have considerable experienced in the welding industry.
