Web Developer (Engineer)

Business Unit: NBC UniversalFunction: Entertainment TVResponsibilities: Job Summary:
As a Web Developer, you will be responsible in facilitating application development of custom production tools and act as a technical representative for NBC.com show producers.Responsibilities:
Assist the Senior Producer of Special Projects and Technical Affairs in supporting the department with technical expertise
Participate in brainstorming meetings in formulating web products and services from a technical point of view
Gather and assess technical requirements from web producers.
Act as a liaison to the I.T. department and 3rd party vendors on all technical matters
Integrate APIs and web services into NBC.com projects using scripting languages such as PHP
Develop custom web applications and internal production tools to help facilitate the management of content and updates~HJ~
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Basic Qualifications:
Knowledge of multi-tiered networked systems and information flow
Ability to understand and develop scalable web applications using object-oriented PHP, DHTML, CSS, Javascript, UNIX command line
Ability to design and build scalable and optimized databases using MySQL
Understanding of service oriented architectures
Strong documentation skills including information flow, wireframe and database schemas using applications such as Visio
Knowledge of technical project managementEligibility Requirements:
Must be willing to work anticipated overtime or on short noticeDesired: 3+ years in the web media production industry
Knowledge of search engine optimization
Solid understanding of high capacity applications, caching and content distribution networks
Understanding of the business behind traffic-based commercial websites and how to maximize pageviews and unique visitors
Operating system administration skills for Linux environments
Experience with Java, Oracle, SOAP, XML a plus
AJAX application development and techniques
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or technical certification
Able to manage multiple projects with open/changing due dates and maintain calm under extreme pressure
Passion and willingness to take ownership by working long hours on projects from requirements gathering through launch and post maintenance
