WAN Engineer

The successful candidate must provide maintenance and support of LAN and WAN equipment. Configure, install, maintain and upgrade network equipment. He/she must provide technical support to the end user community and to other members of the PC Support Department as well as assist in software and/or hardware rollouts.

In addition, the successful candidate must be willing and able to travel to all branches and offices, to work early mornings, nights and weekends as necessary, and to effectively communicate with users and staff of all skill levels, including external vendors. He/she must also be willing and able to maintain knowledge of current and new technologies.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Experience in design, installation and configuration of Network equipment including hubs, switches, routers, firewalls and virtual private networks.

2. Experience in design, installation and configuration of WANs.

3. Experience with network monitoring tools. (Ex. Sniffer, CiscoWorks, etc.)

4.Experience solving user support issues.

5.Ability to effectively communicate with users and staff of all levels, as well as external vendors.

6.Maintain up to date in new technologies

7.Working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems in an enterprise environment.

8.Willingness to travel to all branches and offices, and ability to work early mornings, night and weekends as necessary.


EDUCATION/TRAINING

Typically has 4-year degree in Computer Science and 4 years work experience, but additional education or experience may be accepted
