Vitreous Staff Engineer

Under the direction of the Manager, Vitreous Technical Support plan and supervise projects with regard to improving yield and resolution of process and product problems at any of the vitreous manufacturing locations. Help plan and supervise new ceramic projects in the vitreous plants to improve productivity and enhance results.RESPONSIBILITIES TO INCLUDE:Assist in the planning and installation of new ceramic processes and equipment in the vitreous plants.
Assist in the progression of new vitreous products, colors and surface treatments through the development stages and the introduction into production.
Assist all Kohler potteries in the resolution of production problems through both on-site and off site monitoring of the process.
Coordinate the ceramic processes among the plants and develop, document and maintain testing procedures common to all vitreous locations.
Aid in the planning of and installation of new manufacturing facilities.
Supervise the daily activities and project assignments of subordinate Ceramic and Ceramic Project Engineers.
Assist with the on-site technical training of Ceramic Engineers and Supervisors in the various plants.
Monitor the slip and glaze processes at all locations to include incoming raw materials and their adherence to purchase order specifications.
Maintain up to date knowledge of the raw materials and equipment available on the market, their attributes and usefulness to improving the process and reducing costs.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSBachelors degree in Ceramic Engineering or Ceramic Science.
At least eight years experience in the manufacture of vitreous plumbing fixtures with at least five years in a supervisory capacity.
Must have an excellent working knowledge of all basic, technical and control aspects of the vitreous manufacturing process.
