Value/Product Engineer
SUMMARY: This position leads and drives the activities of engineers, equipment specialists, purchasing buyers, and administrative/clerical support personnel, who perform a systematic and intensive review, analysis, appraisal, and evaluation of equipment, manufacturing processes, supplies, and services for the purpose of cost savings, while maintaining the highest product quality level, and improving efficiency, by design optimization, reverse engineering, product rationalization, simplification, ease of manufacture, locating and qualifying additional sources of supply, providing technical advice, and solving technical problems of various kinds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ØResponsible for baseline to solution Value Engineering of existing product line projects.
ØThe program encompasses Value Engineering, Spare Parts Breakout, Price Challenges/Should Cost functions, and other reliability/sustainability manufacturing process programs.
ØOversees the implementation of policies and procedures in relation to above programs.
ØInitiates and provides technical direction for New Product Development programs to enhance production methods, improve parts and equipment technology, and reduce costs.
ØDemonstrable evidence (metrics) to staff and overall organization that the Value Method (Value Engineering) saves money, improves customer satisfaction, and provides better solutions.
ØAssists with strategic sourcing initiatives
ØDrives optimal use of engineering resources both in house and at Pentair Center for Design, India.
REQUIREMENTS
ØBS degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline, and a minimum of 3-5 years of direct experience with value based Engineering, cost reduction, design optimization, and process improvement. Knowledge of pumps, pumping systems, and/or turbomachinery helpful.
ØLean, and Value Stream mapping experience required
ØApplication/Product Development experience helpful
ØCustomer interaction, analytical skills, written/spoken communication, tolerance of stress, self-starter, etc.
