Continued growth and expansion has created an immediate opportunity for a Metallurgist to work in their Houston, TX location.

Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain Management for Western Hemispher Operations, the Technical Manager/Metallurgist will work as a technical support professional with the Engineering, Supply Chain and Business Development teams. Day to day responsibilities include providing metallurgical consulting support to the Technical Sales Division, reviewing & approval of supplier concession requests, technical supervision of the heat treating shop, assessing failures & recurring NCR's, attending customer technical application meetings and engineering support to the QA Manager & senior management on metallurgical issues. Special projects will be assigned. Attendance at NACE & European technical conferences is requested in order to ensure the company is well represented at these important technical events. Occasional domestic and international travel will be necessary.
REQUIREMENTS
A BS Degree in Metallurgy and 7+ years of oil industry experience are required. Knowledge of down hole environments, completion equipment and Metallurgy is also required. Strong experience & knowledge of the steel making process - particularly low alloys, stainless and Nickel grades and heat treatment of these metals is a must. Proven skills and knowledge with NDE, inspection & metallographic evaluation of steels & alloys for oil industry grades are necessary. The ability to write metal and corresponding heat treat & NDE specs, QA & auditing of steel mills and knowledge of oil industry standards such as API 6a, API 5CT, NACE, ASTM are requested. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writing, are very important. A background of strong customer support is a plus.
