Job Description
Client Operations professionals are responsible for the day-to-day provision of long-term outsourcing services to one or several clients. They design, manage and implement the activities associated with key business functions. The Service Delivery/Operations capability focuses on the attributes or skills essential to providing the necessary services and solutions to the client, the client’s employees or the client’s customers in fulfillment of contractual obligations agreed upon by both parties. The Technology Infrastructure Outsourcing specialty incorporates a wide range of outsourcing skills that focus on four major areas of IT and technical support: communications, desktop management and mobility, customer support and hosting.
Systems Engineer (Unix)
The Systems Engineer (Unix) position provides levels 2 and 3 technical support for business and system application software and connectivity. The primary objective of this position is to implement and upgrade system application software, assist with business application software implementations and upgrades, and assist with connectivity implementations and changes to ensure the stability and reliability of the application and system. Additionally, this individual will serve as a secondary contact for Systems Architects, assist in annual budget process with anticipated project list and associated costs, participate in Disaster Recovery planning and testing, and carry an on-call pager on a bimonthly rotation. This individual will interact daily with Vendors, Business Partners and Global IT Support Services.
Responsibilities may also include the following:
- Lead or participate in IT projects
- Create and maintain tactical project plans for projects
- Define project requirements and communicate with project team
- Trouble-shoot issues at levels 2 and 3 and train level 1 personnel on application trouble-shooting
- Provide timely response to problems escalated from Level 1 via on-call process
- Consult on and deliver software installs, upgrades, updates and removals from systems
- Consult on and deliver application enhancements as required by the business, including implementations
- Verify Operating System compatibility
- Plan and perform Operating System upgrades
- Deliver system security
- Deliver printer standards, patches for all Licensed Programs and system storage cleanup activities
- Complete management status reports on time
- Maintain owned Remedy tickets until resolution
- Comply with Change Management processes
- Manage connectivity implementations and changes
- Attend various team meetings
- Accountable for results of team efforts by maintaining workflows and quality standards and meeting deadlines

REQUIREMENTS
2+ years experience in the following:
- Unix / Linux operating systems
- Solaris, HP-UX, AIX Administration
- SAN / NAS Administration
1+ years experience in the following:
- Tivoli Tape Backup Solution
- Patching and securing operating systems
- Working on cross-functional, cross-platform team
Nice to have skills/qualifications:
- 4+ years experience designing and supporting related server architecture
- Excellent Problem Solving Skills
- Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Education required:
4-year college degree (BS in Information Systems preferred)
and/or a combination of 6 years of college and relevant technical work experience
