Guardian Science & Technology is seeking an experienced Thin Films Scientist to join our Sputtered Films Research group. We are seeking an individual that will serve as a key member of our Sputtered Films Research Group. The ideal candidate will have a broad mix of experience and skills in the areas of materials development, process improvement, and product development in the thin film arena. The selected individual will be responsible for new product development and existing product transfers to support Guardian’s Flat Glass business; developing product requirements and specifications; developing a project schedule and experiment design; working with Guardian manufacturing facilities in product launch strategies; coordinating pre-launch and post-launch activities with plants around the world. The nexus of this position is product development and customer support. Domestic and international travel is required (approximately 25%).
REQUIREMENTS
In addition we are seeking someone with the following background:
-Bachelors Degree in Materials Science, Physics or Electrical Engineering. Advanced degree preferred.
-5+ years of experience in sputtered film technologies and magnetron sputtering.
-Experience within the flat glass products market is a plus.
-Understanding of thin film and materials testing techniques such as Auger, XPS, SEM, and XRD.
-Ability to take charge and lead with confidence, build trust and confidence.
-Experience with complex projects; ability to analyze problems quickly, and the development of corrective actions.
-Strong analytic skills coupled with clear abilities for presenting and communicating ideas and concepts.
-Ability to make decisions and take action under pressure.
-Experience with TF Calc, Optilayer, or other thin film modeling packages.
-Proficiency with MS office software.
-Excellent analytical, organizational, and conflict management skills.
-Excellent verbal and written skills.
As a member of the Sputter Films Research team, you will be responsible for:
-Product simulation and analysis using optical modeling techniques.
-New material characterization and development.
-Design of experiments for new product development and existing product improvement.
-Presentation of results and direction to the team.
-Leading engineering teams at customer sites to solve production related problems.
-Interface with Production to successfully transfer products and improve performance of the existing product lines, suggest and implement solutions
-Developing product requirements and product specifications in coordination with Technical Marketing, Sales, and the Science and Technology Research Groups.
-Scale-up, Launch, Monitor and Improvement of Product performance throughout the life-cycle
-Evaluate, test, specify and procure thin film manufacturing and metrology equipment
