Test Engineer II

Reports to:Job Summary:
Test Engineers design, setup, coordinate, and conduct engineering tests to assess product performance and/or validate products and components, collect and record test results, provide detailed statistical analysis of the test results, summarize the results for dissemination to the design team and other interested parties, and mentor/educate Test Engineers and Test Technicians.Responsibilities to Include:
Develop comprehensive project timelines for validation testing of lab projects/vehicle programs.
Estimate manpower/resource needs and schedule test work with the appropriate supervisors.
Develop and utilize DFMEA’s for Components and Assemblies.
Develop and utilize DVP&R’s for product validation and reporting.
Plan, design and supervise setup of tests with minimal supervision.
Develop and utilize a solid working knowledge of reliability statistics and methodology (Bayes’, Wiebull, Life Estimations, etc.).
Perform setup & operation of MTS FlexTest GT Testing System.
Schedule Test Technician and model shop assistance with appropriate supervisor.
Provide guidance for setup or setup test devices in accordance with specifications.
Brief technicians on the purpose of the test, setup requirements, and desired information.
Conduct validation testing on various components and systems.
Conduct regulatory and compliance testing on whole goods and accessories.
Resolve test issues/failure and document solutions in the online problem resolution system.
Provide guidance and/or setup test machinery with data collection instrumentation.
Conduct data acquisition using Somat EDAQ & EDAQ Lite operating systems. Somat acquisition includes the measurement of temperatures, flow, pressure, voltage, current, velocity, acceleration, strain, force, and displacement.
Generate data sheets and logs as required.
Ensure that data sheets and photo information are recorded/filed into the test documentation system.
Provide basic statistical analysis of test data/results with assistance of Test Engineer I.
Discuss results with test requestor and provide concise and comprehensive technical reports.
Conduct benchmarking tests on competitive equipment.
Perform general engineering processes and procedures such as work orders and parts orders.
Occasionally provides formal mentoring input to others. Looks for opportunities to assist others toward improving their skills and/or understanding of technical or process related issues on their work projects.
Train engineers and technicians in lab-related activities, such as test procedures/processes, test equipment, and fabrication of equipment when necessary.A Textron Company
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; Mechanical or Electrical preferred.Position Requirements:
5 years experience in test engineering.
5 years experience with strain gauge application, computer integrated instrumentation, and sound and vibration analysis.
ASQ certified reliability engineer desired.
Solid computer skills. Familiar with test engineering and statistical analysis software.
Experience developing accelerated test plans desired
Six Sigma certification and knowledge of the following. tools/methodologies desired o Design of Experiments (DOE) o Root cause analysis and problem resolution.License and Certification Requirements:
