Telecommunications Project Manager

This is an exciting market-leading opportunity for a proven telecommunications engineering professional with one of the nation’s leading engineering firms.

Burns & McDonnell provides telecommunications engineering services for clients throughout the United States. Our clients are critical infrastructure and public safety sector entities including electric and water utilities, transportation, and law enforcement. Services include the planning, design, and construction of private telecommunications networks and infrastructure such as land mobile radio, microwave radio, wireless data networks, and fiber optics for wide-area multimedia applications.

This opportunity is a dual marketing and project management position. Marketing duties include marketing and sales of professional engineering services to clients, initiating and assisting with client development and maintenance, leading proposal preparation and presentations, and contract negotiations. Project management duties include consulting and assisting clients with concepts and designs of large-scale telecommunications and automation systems, project planning, establishment of critical project objectives, scope, budgets, and schedules. This position includes some project consulting and engineering. Travel requirements will vary, typically up to 50%.

The successful candidate must be a proven technical professional with at least 15 years of experience in engineering and engineering project management. The candidate must have experience in the application and design of a broad range of telecommunication technology. The candidate must have a solid understanding of the engineering process, must have excellent interpersonal skills, and must possess above average written communications skills. This position requires a BS degree in electrical, civil, or computer engineering. PE license is highly desirable. Experience in application of telecommunication and automation technology in the electric utility sector is highly desirable.
