Technical Manager, Molding Operations

Fortune 500, consumer manufacturer seeks Technical Manager to manage and direct Technical Services Dept, Molding Operations, maintaining related equipment, machinery and tools to support plastic injection and blow molding manufacturing, distribution and general facility requirements.

Report to Operations/Plant Manager.

*Manages engineering/technical, injection/blow molding operations group - RE: Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and tooling Engineering (mold tool room).

*Machine optimization, Machine replacements or purchase of new equipment, design of mechanical solutions to technical issues of INJECTION & BLOW molding equipment, implementation and maintenance of parts containment, implementation and continuous updating of preventative maintenance programs, corrective maintenance, training, safety, financial control, budgets (over $4MM annual) and productivity programs to reduce spending on spare parts

*Management of all injection mold tool room operations, tools optimization, reduction of maintenance times of tools, reduction of budget for tools and detail replacement, training programs, staffing in the mold tool room, etc..

*Coordinates with Production Manager, & implements technical solutions for both cost reduction targets and production improvement.

*Personnel policy matters plus hire/fire.

*Safety, environmental matters, Affirmative Action and EEO issues, and disposal of hazardous wastes

*Cost reduction programs *Operating budgets under supervision of Production Manager

*Capital Budget and Spending Plan

*Frequent contacts with: QC/QA, Equipment and Process Engineering, Product Design, R & D, Purchasing, Plant Services, Accounting, Personnel, and Plant Administration. Vendors, suppliers, technical services, and professional services as required.

*Supervision: 35-40 (maintenance supervisor, mold shop supervisor, MRO buyer and process and manufacturing engineers.
REQUIREMENTS
B.S. in Engineering (BSME/BSIE) or Business with related technical courses with plastics a plus.

5+ years related experience to consumer HIGH VOLUME, INJECTION and/or BLOW MOLDING lean manufacturing operation. Familiarity with 'Big Box' clients a plus. Requires MOLDING OPERATIONS, shop-floor knowledge and understanding of high volume manufacturing, INJECTION AND/OR BLOW molding, molds and molded parts, tooling, processing and financial systems. Lean manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, SPC, SMED.

*Managerial/leadership and administrative skills with excellent communication. Must be promotable and will be groomed for next step up.
