That is the mission of FMC.PURPOSE/FUNCTION:
The individual in this key position in FMC Corporation’s Middleport, NY manufacturing facility develops, implements and manages quality control systems designed to ensure continuous production of quality product (consistent with established standards, customer specifications and production goals). It will also supervise laboratory operations and a staff of four technical people.RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Ensures a high level of internal and external customer service. Investigate (and correct) customer issues and complaints relating to quality.
2. Supervises laboratory staff engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high integrity. Ensure a competent work force is maintained and properly trained on the process and systems, and supports safe and effective operations. Plan for current, future, and/or fluctuating production and staffing requirements. Provide for development and growth.3. Develops and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.4. Formulates, documentsand maintains quality control standards and on-going quality control objectives.
5. Coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
6. Creates, documents and implements inspection criteria and procedures.
7. Provides, and oversees, inspection activity for product throughout production cycle.
8. Applies total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes.
9. Creates and directs environmental test functions and applications.
10. Designs, develops and implements quality assurance initiatives, such as quality board activity, CSF compliance, ISO 9000.
11. Leads and implement various programs, such as Management of Change, and Manufacturing and Operational Excellence.12. Leads plant commercialization of new products.WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT/SCOPE:
Exercises continuous leadership to focus efforts on priorities and deals with shifting priorities. Must be technically proficient to "troubleshoot" mechanical and chemical upsets. REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS•B.A./B.S. in engineering, chemistry or chemical engineering or biology degree.
•5-7 years minimum chemistry/lab environment
•Experience in SAP a plus
•ISO 9000 is desirable.
•Experience with formulations development and setting products standards required.
•Prior experience managing staff and demonstrated leadership skills, coaching, and communication skills.
•Exposure to leading team-based work systems.•Union experience a plus.
•Overseeing the sampling operations.
•GLC equipment experience is desired.
