Systems Sr Engineer/DBA

Purpose:
Position Responsibilities:
Performs database monitoring and tuning, Oracle patches and installation, the creation of tables, views, indexes, clusters, sequences, triggers, stored procedures and other DBA functions. Is responsible for managing files systems, monitoring CPU/IO and disk storage and systems functions. Creates and implements application programs, macros and script files to streamline processing and improve productivity. Other responsibilities include system administration functions relating to performing maintenance of systems software, upgrading existing software with new releases and applying corrective service to fix software defects, designs, programs, documents and implements utility sytem software.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications & Requirements:
Minimum 5 years experience in Oracle Database adminstration on Sun/Solaris clustered systems. Experience with Oracle 8i or 9i under UNIX systems, preferably Sun Solaris. Oracle and Solaris certifications preferred. Oracle administration on Windows systems and exposure to MS SQL server considered a plus. Extensive experience in a Unix Systems Admin support role in production or development environment required. Must be available on call 24/7 and available to work nights and weekends as required. Travel to all Sun-Sentinel offices and some out of town travel necessary. Willingness to acquire skills required to accomplish highly technical tasks needed, as well as ability to adapt to technical change. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or related field, or equivalent work experience required.
