Systems/Project Engineer

Business Unit: GE Infrastructure, TransportationFunction: Engineering/ Product DevelopmentResponsibilities: * Will work closely with engineering teams to develop requirements and solutions for automation and control products and systems for the US, Asian and European railroad industry.
Will develop creative solutions and define and document system requirements for new and existing products via system specifications and technical memorandums.
Will participate heavily in safety analyses and system test and validation activities.
Will provide technical support to program managers when communicating with customers.
Will work closely with program managers and engineering team to execute contracts.
System/project engineer may travel globally to support contract obligations. Travel is expected to be no more than 20%.
Job is anticipated to be approximately 70% system engineering and 30% project leadership.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: * BS in engineering.
Minimum 5 years experience in the computer or electronics industry required.
Experience with the design, operation and evaluation of control or communication systems required.
Experience in system engineering and specification generation required.
Experience with requirements management tools required.Desired: * Ability to develop Failure Modes and Effects Analyses and perform risk assessments required.
Must be able to plan and schedule projects to build, deploy and test control systems for locomotive and rail yard automation applications
Must be able to work in a team environment.
Must be willing to travel globally to support contract obligations.
Railroad industry experience a plus.
Experience with RF systems and locomotive interfaces desirable.
Familiarity with software development processes desirable.
