Systems Engineer Senior
Standard Job Description: Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Typical Minimums: Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered career, or journey, level.
Specific Job Description: Experienced computer systems engineer with a focus on Microsoft OS server and workstation implementations. Position requires COTS hardware and software integrate with customer developed software across multiple operating systems including Microsoft, Solaris, and Linux. Candidate will: Perform HW/SW evaluations, trade studies and prototyping task for desktop, server and infrastructure hardware, and document results; Develop requirements specifications and technical solutions for HW/SW systems; Perform system functional analyses; Architect Microsoft desktop workstation and server configurations; Provide technical support and guidance to other program participants, system development teams and operational users; Participate regularly in technical interchange meetings and reviews with commercial hardware and software providers to remain current on the latest available products and technologies; Document hardware installation and maintenance instructions; Produce and deliver presentations and status reports. Candidate should be experienced in Microsoft Windows architecture and have: an understanding of UNIX/Linux architecture working knowledge of MS Office produce suite; an understanding of computer networks and network design. Desired experience/skills include: Certification as a Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE).
