This Software Architecture/Engineering position will be a key Software Architect for a state-of-the-art radio/networking system under development. The successful candidate will provide subject matter expertise and ultimately be an authority in defining and evaluating the system level requirements, architecture, and design approach, and will ensure the viability and effectiveness of Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology and concepts. Candidates for this position are expected to be experts in the field of software/SDRs, capable of applying highly advanced technologies, principles, and experience towards furthering the state-of-the-art and extending the knowledge in the field of software-defined radios. This critical position also encompasses the evaluation of subcontractor SDR technology work products, working to ensure that SDR portions of the design are integrated effectively into the overall system architecture, and other tasks as required that will ensure successful definition and implementation of the system. Furthermore, this position will serve as a top consultant and authority/spokesperson on the SDR software architecture and approach, assisting management in long-range planning/research, and interacting with the customer and external parties. The Software Architect will be responsible for the following tasks: 1) Define, develop, and evaluate the systems level requirements, proposed architecture, and design approach to ensure the viability and effectiveness of the portions of the system emphasizing state-of-the-art SDR technology and concepts. Utilize advanced technical knowledge to develop a forward-thinking software architecture. 2) Subject Matter Expert to evaluate work products, emphasizing cutting-edge SDR technology and concepts. 3) Working resourcefully and creatively to ensure that SDR-focused portions of the design are integrated effectively into the overall system architecture. 4) Perform special tasks (e.g., white papers, trade studies) as required to ensure successful definition and implementation of the system requirements and system design baseline utilizing the latest available technologies. General Position Description:
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
