Provides direct support in the day-to-day operations on client desktop/laptop operating systems, desktop/laptops hardware and desktop/laptop software and organizational hardware (switches, copiers, printers, fax machines, telephones); duties include trouble shooting client network connectivity, replacing hardware, troubleshooting software, and being the primary support for help desk requests (60%)
B. Configure and install new: PC/workstations/laptops, operating systems, software and applications (10%)
C. Maintains Windows file, application, and MS SQL database servers with other VNU and SRDS System Engineers (10%)
D. Monitor and execute network back up policies. (5%)
E. Inventorying hardware, software and technical supplies used by the organization. (5%)
F. Assist UNIX engineers in file, application, and database server troubleshooting as needed. (5%)Other Functions (5%):A. Provides technical consultation, training and support to operational staff.
B. Assist in planning design, technical review and implementation for new network infrastructure hardware and network operating systems for voice and data communication networks in accordance with SRDS, A.C.Nielsen/HCI and VNU standards and procedures.Qualifications
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:
A. BA in Information Systems or equivalent experience
B. 1-3 years experience with hardware/software installation and maintenance in a PC/LAN-WAN-Internet environment
C. Working knowledge of PCs/workstations/laptops, operating systems, and software (including printers, hard disk drive configurations, RAM configurations, modems, network connectivity, Windows O/S), and network communication protocols, including TCP/IP.
D. Ability to diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software problems
E. Excellent communication and customer service skills
F. Experience and knowledge in configuring and maintaining client access and connectivity to the internet and LAN
G. Technical Certification: A+, Network+, and MCP, MCSA, or MCSE (or equivalent certifications) desired.
