Systems Administrator (UNIX)
The North East Regional Service Center (RSC) requires a Senior UNIX Systems Administrator to provide task lead support to Global Command and Control System - Integrated Imagery and Intelligence (GCCS-I3) in the NE RSC, located in Washington, D.C., at the Defense Intelligence Agency. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for the Operations and Maintenance of all RSC GCCS assets. Maintenance includes daily and weekly backups of all client and servers, to include offsite storage, patch maintenance, disk administration, user administration, and security of all systems. Administrator may be responsible for overseeing at least one mid level administrator. The Systems Administrator will address technical issues, integrating hardware and software, and ensuring continuity of operations. The Systems Administrator will work closely with the NE RSC staff in identifying system problems, developing solutions and implementing fixes. The SYSAD may also be tasked with designing replacement hardware for the RSC system, arranging hardware orders, performing installations and ensuring systems are operating efficiently. The candidate will be responsible for working with the current Network and staff to ensure network continuity of RSC assets.
The individual should have good knowledge of computer security, and experience working in a secure environment. Able to author white papers, design documentation, and security documentation. Familiarity with certification/SSO procedures.
REQUIREMENTS
Background and Experience: (including education, skills, work activities)Minimum required:- Active Top Secret SCI clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or math, or equivalent experience.
- 8 years technical experience with UNIX (Solaris) system administration.
- 5 years of management experience
- Relational Database Design: Oracle, Sybase, or MySql
- Ability to install, configure and trouble shoot basic networking services, such as TCP/IP and SMTP.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently overseas with no on-site company support or supervision.Desired:- Global Command & Control System (GCCS) Integrated Imagery and Intelligence (I3) experience.
- Collection Mission Management Applications (CMMA) experience.
- Configuration and administration experience with Sun, PC, and printer hardware.
- Prior experience with on-site operational support.
- Prior experience with end user training.
- Microsoft, Sun, Cisco certifications.
