System Test Engineer- (automated background) Silk Test Preferred
Market leading Trading Systems Product Development Company is searching for a Systems Test Engineer to work in its R&D department.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for automation script development operating in the System test department. The person must satisfy required automation experience and must be passionate about staying current with the latest automation tools on the market, as well as constantly striving to apply the latest in enhancement techniques into the company's automation platforms.
This is a “hands on” position where the person will be expected to dive into the automation requirements of the System Test department, and create and build automated regression tests to be introduced in to new and existing automation platforms.
It is expected that the candidate in this position will work with Software Development groups, STG Automation Engineers, as well as in-house and over-seas contracted personnel.
Accountabilities with Expected Results:
Will develop and implement automation scripts for execution on automated regression testing platforms.
May be responsible for working with and potentially supporting off-shore automation development resources, as well as contracted “On-site” personnel resources when required.
Candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient integration of all automation environments.
Interact with Development Engineers to design and implement automation interface applications when necessary.
Work with automation tool vendors in the implementation of in-house simulator applications to effectively function within the company's automation environments.
Be responsible for the specification and installation of required hardware and software for Automation projects.
Perform documentation reviews for automation documents developed by STG automation engineers.
Responsible for Automation platform operation: automation servers, Operating systems, simulator applications, automaton applications, and future automation environments.
Plans and manages rollouts of enhancement and maintenance upgrades to automation platforms when necessary.
Working knowledge of Windows and UNIX preferably Solaris and/or Linux operating systems.
Position Specifications
Experience/Skills:
Minimum of 5 years recent experience in the full life cycle of automation test environments in planning, code development and implementation efforts, utilizing industry standard automation tools such as SilkTest.
5 years minimum System test experience; full life cycle test, writing test plans, developing test strategies, implementing test strategies.
3 years of experience in building complex functions and methods in an automation repository environment.
Experience in developing simulator applications that drives physical devices that is subsequently controlled by an industry standard automation tool, SilkTest is preferable.
Outstanding problem solving skills, including the ability to look for non-standard problem solutions, this is key to this position.
Ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts to all levels of the organization.
Ability to learn and apply new technologies and learn and understand details of third party applications and technologies.
Ability to work on multiple simultaneous projects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to analyze and balance facts, priorities, and alternatives to make sound decisions and recommendations.
Ability to evaluate past decisions to improve effectiveness of future decisions and development efforts.
Optional Skills considered a plus – Linux, Windows, UNIX, Cisco, SQL, Avaya or Nortel PBX Administration, Octel or Audix voicemail administration.
Education:
A 4-Year Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but this requirement may be waived if the applicant has sufficient related experience.
