Under general supervision, completes assigned commissioning, preventive maintenance, inspection, testing and responds to basic service or warranty calls. Exercises individual judgment in determining the approach to accomplishing work and solving problems.



PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

Responsible for basic system diagnostics from controllers to sensors and loading software.
Performs basic troubleshooting, inspection and testing of Facilities Management Systems (responds to minor service calls or calls within one functional area). Problem diagnosis requires some software skills.

Calibrates systems requiring basic electronic test equipment, such as multi-meters, decade boxes, network terminals and/or a lap top computer. Performs preventive maintenance of building systems.
Interprets engineering drawings as to layouts, location and operation of electronic hardware (FMS, Fire, Security, and HVAC controls).
Completes paperwork including time sheets, expense sheets, posting of service tickets and on-site documentation. Provides accurate information for as-built documentation.

Communicates with customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Meets with customer to review assignments and analyze problems. Keeps customer informed on progress.

Keeps management informed of job progress and issues. Completes all required commissioning documentation.

Adheres to safety standards. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.

Conducts self study (reading, research and practice) to improve technical proficiency in company's product lines.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:



Other duties related to the commissioning and servicing of building controls and facilities management systems as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Associate degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or similar field. Degree may be offset by two years experience in servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems. At least one year of experience as a System Representative I at JCI or two years of related work experience. Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent JCI to customers and other outside contacts. Some PC experience required.
