System Engineer (06-23RP)

Responsibilities include frontline Support (60-80%), (Windows, UNIX, and Linux) Backend server System Administrator (10-30%), and Misc. Projects (10%). Candidate will be a member of a technical team supporting the Harmonic employee user community and backend infrastructure.The Systems Engineer supports Harmonic Desktop and Laptop computers, Microsoft Windows, UNIX, and Linux Environment.•Can easily express thoughts to others verbally and in written form.•Is responsive to co-workers and clients, demonstrates willingness to be cooperative and assist others whenever possible. Demonstrates positive attitude, encourages co-workers and team members.•Can readily prioritize tasks and competing requests for service and handle several projects at one time and can work independently.•Is able to effectively think through a problem, recognizing, securing and evaluating relevant facts, and reaching sound conclusions. Identify and utilize appropriate resources to assist in problem identification and resolution process.•Capable of handling several different tasks and activities while still meeting deadlines.•Is capable of establishing and managing priorities. Plan activities and create a regular schedule. Must be organized and communicate well both verbally and written.•Be part of weekly 24x7 on-call rotation
REQUIREMENTS
•BS degree in Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent; at least three (3) to five (5) years work experience in IT area.•Must have depth, knowledge and hands-on experience with Windows Server Environment across all Microsoft Products including 2000/2003 Server, MS Exchange, Share point, .NET, Active Directory, SMS, and MSSQL.•Assists staff to diagnose and solve computer equipment problems (Hardware and Software)•Troubleshooting Day to day users level problems•Participates in technical projects and implementing backend Infrastructure•Hands-on configuration and day to day operations maintenance of IT infrastructure•Hands-on experience with Linux and UNIX is a Must•SQL, Visual Basic, .NET etc. programming experience is plus.•Willingness to learn
