Sustaining/Manufacturing Engineer II (MG)

'Outsource and re-source trolling motor components to off -shore or in-country companies. May require some minor travel in and out of country.
'Suggest and/or implement product design changes to improve manufacturability and quality.
'Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems concerning products and recommend, design and implement improvements.
'Improve existing manufacturing processes by creating and modifying plant layout drawings.
'Design new manufacturing machinery and fixtures, to improve job safety, product quality, reduce manufacturing costs, and introduce new product.
'Make machine design improvements and upgrades to existing manufacturing machines and fixtures to improve job safety, improve product quality, and reduce manufacturing costs.
'Support maintenance department as needed with machine component replacement research and procurement to sustain aging machinery used in manufacturing.
'Improve manufacturing processes in accordance with Lean Manufacturing guidelines.
'Design product testing machines with data acquisition capabilities. Develop and procure hardware and software required for product testing machines.
'Develop test plans and data acquisition programs for product testing machines.
'Test existing and new product, when required, to determine suitability for release to production.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements:
'Proficient in AutoCAD or related software applications.
'Advanced drafting skills to produce detail drawings that communicate designs and tolerances effectively without adding excessive costs to products.
'Basic Skills using Microsoft Office products.
'Basic mechanical skills required for disassembling and reassembling machinery and products as needed for evaluation.
'Advanced electrical skills required for troubleshooting machinery and products.
'Ability to communicate at all levels in order to gather ideas and suggestions.
'Willingness and ability to work 'hands-on' to experience production, support maintenance, and assemble/install new machinery
REQUIREMENTS
'Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, Electrical Engineering Technology.
'Minimum of 2 years experience.
'Experience in at least 2 separate manufacturing environments.
'Must be a self-starter.
'Lean six sigma green belt preferred.
