Survey Party Chief

Purpose: SURVEY PARTY CHIEF DESCRIPTION Summary: Plans, organizes, and directs work of one survey crew engaged in surveying to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, topographic boundaries, structure elevations and locations, property lines, staking, road improvements, land division, titles, oil and gas pipelines, or other purposes.






REQUIREMENTS
Accurately determines time necessary to complete survey requirements.

Researches previous survey evidence, maps, and physical evidence to obtain data needed for surveys.

Interprets scope of survey work to determine data and retrieval requirements.

Develops new data from photogrammetric records.

Cares for and maintains vehicles.

Determines methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control.

Drives survey crew to the work site in a timely manner.

Keeps accurate and complete notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed.

Coordinates with property owner to comply with property owner's requirements for entering property.

Coordinates findings with Supervisor and others concerned with project.

Ensures the necessary equipment is available, ready for use, and maintained.
