Support Engineer I

To add to our team of talented people, we are currently seeking a Support Engineer I in our DNS department. This position will cover the DNS and Spot beam Uplink locations in the SW territory covering Southern California.
The responsibilities of this role include:
Create and maintain the Echostar system environment(s) with emphasis on uptime, consistency, scalability and performance. Provide support in areas, but not limited to PC/Server hardware, data networks, telephony, software applications, and trouble ticket resolution.
Specifically, duties include (but are not limited to):
Performs entry to 2nd level support of computer hardware.
Installs software, hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, network interface cards and disk drives on user's premises. Performs PC Adds/Moves/Changes.
Responsible for learning and mastering system administration duties. Including, but not limited to, installation, monitoring, backup and recovery and tuning.
Work effectively with team of System Administrators to maintain uptime, consistency, scalability and performance while meeting business needs.
Supports activities assigned by the corporate entities such as Operations Support, Data Networks, Wintel admin, Telephony, and/or other information systems groups.
Provides updates, status, and completion information according to published procedures. Enters and completes problem ticket information via the approved tracking system. Logs all repairs and services performed.
Responsible for updating, maintaining and verifying inventory records for all IT hardware and systems for assigned sites according to IT guidelines.
Learn environment – technical and business, through self initiative and direction from senior staff.

job Requirements
Minimum qualifications to be considered are:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent, related degree where appropriate, and/or 2 - 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of Windows 2000 Workstation/Server, Windows XP, Windows 2003 server and MS Office. A+, MCSE, CCNA, and other related certifications where appropriate are a plus.
Can perform entry to 2nd level support of computer hardware. May also possess limited knowledge or have experience in an Windows 2000/XP environment using TCP/IP connectivity. Has a working knowledge of standard MS software.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and clients. Ability to develop analytical skills and the ability to research information on topics to resolve issues. Good oral and communication skills. Good customer service skills. Team player who has the ability to work effectively with all levels of company personnel.

MCSE, MCSA, CCNA, Network + and/or A+
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to touch, hold, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 65 pounds.
This position requires night and weekend work, both scheduled and unscheduled, and requires the use of a pager 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a maximum 15 minute response time to all pages. Up to 75% travel throughout the region and to the corporate office may be required. Credit Card required with no less then $2000 available balance.
