Developer Support - DSV Media Team
Job Description;
Primary responsibility is to provide high quality technical support to our developer and enterprise customers encoding, streaming, and programming interfaces for Windows Media Player.
Primary job responsibilities include responding to customer support requests, providing technical support verbally and through e-mail, on a broad set of multimedia related issues. Customer support issues will need to be worked in a timely manner and be resolved to the customer's satisfaction. Technical specialization will be in media encoding, media streaming, multimedia API programming, and client/server tools. Initial training and resolution of issues will be made possible through facilitated self-study and mentoring. Secondary job responsibilities may include creating clear documentation of product issues and ?how to? information for our support staff, product development team, and customers.
Qualifications;
General qualifications include a passion for computer technology, strong troubleshooting skills, good communications and customer service skills, and a desire to help enterprise & developer customers be successful with Microsoft media technologies.
Required technical knowledge includes:
Strong knowledge of Windows Operating System and Windows TCP/IP Networking
Working knowledge of common Windows troubleshooting tools and methodology
General knowledge of Windows Media technologies (Player/Encoder/Server/SDK)
Understanding of internet web development using HTML and scripting
Knowledge of C++, COM, and Windows programming
Understanding of secure networking, including client and server permissions & tools
Recommended technical knowledge includes:
Media authoring and programming with the Windows Media technologies
Knowledge of streaming media protocols (TCP, UDP, HTTP, RTSP and MMS)
Understanding of compression technologies and concepts
Understanding of Windows Media Digital Rights Management
Knowledge of DirectX DirectShow and multimedia APIs
Competency debugging issues in C++ and illustrating API examples in C++ code
A BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or similar discipline is preferred. Comparable knowledge and proof of learning ability through job experience is also acceptable. Microsoft Certified Professional status in operating systems and/or development technologies is desirable.
