Supplier Development Engineer

-Actively develop vendors within the supply base, identify and implement process improvement opportunities.
-Accomplish changes in supply base manufacturing cultures to lean sigma practices with significant cost and productivity improvements.
-Continuously improve the performance of the supply chain through the appropriate use of tools & techniques.
-Coordinate and strategically lead performance improvement initiatives across a product value stream from supplier to ALSTOM.
-Train, coach and facilitate continuous improvement concepts and principles to supply chain personnel.
-Establish meaningful metrics across the entire value stream, monitor performance, identify problems/opportunities, and use effective problem solving system and techniques to resolve them.
-Develop & monitor implementation plans. Manage Kaizen events as appropriate.
-Map and optimize existing supply chain processes with vendors for total product cost optimization.
-Establish continuous improvement/lean/sigma practices within the value stream and transfer ownership of practices to supplier supply chain personnel.
-Lead/Participate in supplier audits (classification, capacity, process) and supply issue resolution as necessary.
-Provide technical assistance to supply base.
-Ensure supply base capacity and manufacturing rate in sync with customer requirements.
-Lead all activities associated with bringing new parts until First Article Inspection and ensured all appropriate documentation is completed.
-Manage all supplier corrective action requirements (SCAR).

Bachelor's Degree
6-10 years experience in a manufacturing environment
