Supervisor Storage Engineering

Description:The Supervisor Storage Engineering is responsible for leading a team to accomplish the following: Providing complex engineering, architectural and production/development support for our Unix, Windows and Linex storage hardware, and backup and recovery infrastructure for all data center locations of the company. Manage company Laptop backup and recovery applications and maintenance of infrastructure to manage it. Secures access to storage hardware and configuration in compliance with established policies and roles. The position must proactively ensure that storage performance, stability, capacity, and provisioning are sufficient to accommodate growth of the business and its demands on the systems. Provides the Data Center Operations team with timely and up-to-date inventory and configuration information for their asset management database. The Supervisor Storage Engineering must remain current with new storage, backup, and recovery practices that can potentially address business requirements needed to keep pace with company growth and direction. Position works with other departments to provide disaster recovery and business continuity strategies and solutions. Position develops, produces, and analyzes reports that measure relevant messaging performance, availability, and trending metrics to enable proactive support.
The leadership functions of the role include leading the overall implementation of Storage Engineering strategies and plans, establishing a new IT functional area from the consolidation of teams and application from other IT Operations areas. Also the position must establish a strong relationship with the business and IT users and gain a clear understanding of their engineering requirements and project expectations. Must provide counseling, mentoring, coaching, and development of staff members and complete annual performance review for the IT Data Services team. Must establish effective change leadership in Storage Engineering Services. REQUIREMENTS
Experience:Bachelor’s Degree in related field. 10 years working in a multi-site/multinational IT operational support capacity with 8 years working in a highly dispersed, 100+ office location company. 5 years of leading or supervising projects, teams or other IT efforts. Must have strong knowledge of Unix, Windows and Linux operating systems as well as strong knowledge of key hardware technologies such as SUN, McData, and Brocade. Routine knowledge of networking and data communications fundamentals. Must posses project management skills and be an excellent written and verbal communicator. Ability to provide excellent customer service.
