Structural Finite Element Analyst Engineer
Business Unit: GE Infrastructure, EnergyFunction: Engineering/ Product DevelopmentResponsibilities: *Perform analysis, evaluation, and documentation start to finish under direction from the Tech Lead or Principal Engineer.
Provide analysis results in an engineering report for use by external customers.
Using plant drawings, create detailed finite element models of complex structures using ANSYS version 8.1, 9.0 and 10.0.
Apply time history loads, create macros using ANSYS APDL and solve for stress, displacement and mode shapes on the structure.
Must clearly document the design process in accordance with GE engineering procedures.
Work closely with other organizations within GE Nuclear, especially the design organization.
Work in a regulated environment (i.e.: Traceable documentation for 40 year retention and Verification of all work).
Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
Interface with design engineers, other analysts, project managers, licensing engineers and materials engineers.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: *Mechanical/Civil engineer with bachelors/masters degree.
Experience in performing Finite Element Analysis.
Engineering structural/dynamics background in the design and analysis of structural components for stress and fatigue.
Experience with ANSYS finite element dynamic analysis, ANSYS APDL programming language.
Experienced in performing engineering calculations.
Six Sigma Green Belt certification (GE employees only).Desired: *Proficient with ANSYS finite element dynamic analysis, proficient with ANSYS APDL programming language, cutting edge techniques including superelements, cut-boundary-displacement and complex system models.
Experience in the BWR (or PWR) industry.
Working knowledge of the ASME Section III Code.
Capacity to create models from CAD files or ANSYS.
Knowledge of nuclear power plant safety issues and GE nuclear business operations.

You must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
